📜 PPA regulatory updates accelerate South Korea’s renewable energy expansion, but challenges remain ⚡ Eyes are on the new South Korean government’s proposed #RE100 industrial complex and its role in renewable energy expansion, where 🔋 power purchase agreements (PPAs) could play a key role in meeting RE demands. PPA regulations have undergone major changes in the first half of 2025, including removing minimum capacity requirements for on-site PPAs and expanding the scope of entities eligible to participate in the PPA system. 🟥 However, challenges remain, including a continued lack of transparency surrounding grid and ancillary fees and limitations on access to supplementary electricity amid Korea Electric Power Corporation (KEPCO)’s monopoly.
